“It’s not everyday that I get to photograph, interview and hang out with 8 inspiring and crazy dedicated athletes with important messages. The vibe level and attitude was totally through the roof!”

The Unlocked program has one definite purpose – to amplify the voices of women in sport. Started by the Women’s Sport Trust in 2020, the program puts together athletes with some of the top names in sports media, policy making and leadership, to mentor, nurture and support their projects and future careers.

Photographer Ossi Piispanen shot these colorful portraits of female athletes and role models for Women’s Sport Trust together with Glorious Sport and This Is Root as part of their Unlocked 2022 program.
