Martat Cookbook
On October 10th Leivontakirja, a baking cookbook by Martat, was published. The mouth-watering photographs in the book were created by Elvi Rista, a master of effortlessly beautiful food photography. Leivontakirja is a basic baking book suitable for every home. It gives new inspiration for experienced bakers and tips and advice to those who are not as confident with their baking skills as they would like to be. In the book, the ingredients of traditional baked goods are replaced with new climate-friendly ones, and a vegetarian diet is strongly emphasised in all recipes.
The photographer’s personal favorite is the six-ingredient White Chocolate Cranberry Cheesecake found on page 25: ”I love all kinds of pastries and cakes, but I rarely have time for multi-step recipes from scratch. This cake was quick and easy to make, and the balance between the rich sweet white chocolate cream cheese filling, the salty cookie base, and the tangy cranberries was perfect.”
The balance in Elvi’s pictures, the precise layout and the natural light all exude perfection. One should carefully consider opening the Leivontakirja, because after spending a couple of minutes with the book, the probability of the smell of freshly baked buns at home suddenly becomes very high.
